Welcome to the best kept secret in California's
Central Sierra Nevada, The Shaver Basin
Mother Nature blessed the Sierra with a series of storms over the past few days. One of the best ways to determine the latest snow conditions is to visit the China Peak Ski Resort website: skichinapeak.com.

You can also check with Shaver Lake Sports to see how conditions are for the various family Snow Play areas in the Shaver Basin region. The store has Sno Park Permits available, as do Cressman's General Store and the Shaver Lake Gas and Market.

The Second Annual Shaver Lake Fireworks Dinner is set for Saturday, March 22 at the Shaver Lake Community Center. This is a festive party that's "Not to be Missed"! Enjoy a delicious dinner, silent auction, dessert auction, bingo and door prizes. Tickets are $100 per person. Last year the tickets sold out in about a week. They will be available at Will Call at the dinner. All tickets sold on a first come, first serve basis. Please call (559) 841-3350 to determine if tickets are still available.

If you can't join the Party, please take a moment and make a donation to the Shaver Lake Firework's Fund. Any amount will help. Then be sure to be at Shaver Lake on July 5th to see the big fireworks show.

This region is a year around mecca for outdoor recreational activities. It's a wonderful community in which to work and raise a family. It's a great place to retire and a very popular location for a second home.

Geographically, this untapped recreational mecca sits between the Yosemite and King's Canyon/Sequoia National Parks. Herein lie the Dinkey Creek, Kaiser, John Muir and Ansel Adams Wilderness areas as well as the Pacific Crest and John Muir Trails. Come see majestic falls, giant Sequoias at McKinley Grove and unique granite rock formations usually associated with Yosemite.

Travellers from Southern California will find this Sierra jewel as close as many of the popular Eastern Sierra vacation spots, but less crowded. Visitors from the Monterey Penninsula will have a leisurely four to five hour drive, depending upon their final destination. If you live in the San Francisco or Sacramento regions, look us over by reviewing this website and then come visit us. You'll love the experience here in the western Sierra. Then tell your friends and co-workers how much fun you had!

Sightseeing abounds throughout the year and there are plenty of activities to experience. Over the years, other events have included Crab Feeds, Sled Dog Races, Art and Craft Fair, Chili Cook Offs, High Sierra Sailing Regattas, Renaissance Faire, Fourth of July Fireworks, Car Show, Loggers Jamboree, Music Festivals, Octoberfest, Wine Tours, Fishing Derbys, Christmas Activities and more.

There are unique gift shops, fine dining establishments, comfort food stops, a variety of business services and accommodations available for every taste. You'll find them all in our Business Services Directory.

The Shaver Lake Visitors Bureau is a group of community leaders dedicated to promoting the Shaver Basin. This organization is dependent upon the support of the regional businesses, second home owners, annual visitors and major sponsors. Meetings are held the second Tuesday of each month at 5:30 p.m. at the Shaver Lake Village Hotel. Everyone is welcome. Please join us or make a donation. Your support is appreciated!
